Buying a Chinese car can be risky when it comes to parts and repairs. They're difficult to come by and takes time to arrive when ordered. At least based on my experience.
Regular mechanics might not know them and you're stuck with dealerships. But what happens if the dealership closes or changes hands? Service could get bad like what happened with MG. We don't really know how reliable these cars are yet since they're new. Even though Hongqi was in some taxi fleets they're not around anymore. MG seems to be the only one with a decent track record. Parts are cheap which is nice but I saw a door handle part come loose which makes me wonder about build quality. It's better to stick with cars that are easy to fix and have parts everywhere. That way you save money in the long run.

Owning a Chinese car is still a gamble, especially when it comes to parts and long-term service. Hongqi might look premium, but if dealerships disappear or service gets worse, you’re stuck waiting months for repairs. MG is the only one that’s somewhat figured it out, but even they had rough years. Until Chinese brands prove themselves with long-term reliability, buying one is a big risk.
