The Hongqi H9 is an intriguing entry into the luxury sedan market blending Chinese innovation with German design cues. I feel it is a little threatening. The sleek commanding exterior especially in all black gives it a bold presence and with the right aggressive wheel setup it could easily stand out among traditional luxury sedans.

While Hongqi might not have the same global prestige as German brands they’ve clearly taken inspiration from the best. The question is whether the H9 delivers the same level of refinement and performance to truly compete with established luxury names.

One thing is certain the H9’s design and presence make it a head-turner even if it's still carving out its place in the market.

The new Hongqi H9 comes with two powertrain options: a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder (252 HP, 380 Nm) or a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 (272 HP, 400 Nm). Both send power to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission. The V6 hits 100 km/h in just under 8 seconds which isn't all that fast by today's standards. On top of that it features air suspension and a "Level 2.5" semi-autonomous driving system
